Art and language are ongoing forces in my life. A long and successful career in public relations provided the opportunity to represent artists, both visual and performing. I founded and operated The Art Gym, an artist cooperative in Berkeley, California, from 2002 to 2004. I’ve participated in artist retreats in various countries and sold my art at vetted shows. I(loosely) maintain an art studio in my home.

I admire a witty, clever quote and enjoy trying to illustrate my favorites. I keep a running list of quotes that make me think or laugh and a good portion of my home library is made up of quote books.

Artistically, the influences run wild and long. From books, like Austin Kleon’s Steal Like An Artist and Lynda Barry’s What It Is, to the works of Marc Chagall, Fred Babb, Banksy, and innumerable Outsider artists, my art is a colorful combination of various ideas, is artistic techniques, mixed media art supplies, and joyous hours in the art studio.

A chapter in Kleon’s book is entitled, “Write the book you want to read.” Artful Wisdom Colorful Advice is that book.
