Art and language have always been the twin engines powering my life. After a long and lively career in public relations—where I had the joy of championing visual and performing artists—I jumped into creating spaces for art myself.  I founded and ran The Art Gym, a cooperative in Berkeley where creativity got its daily workout. Along the way, I’ve joined artist retreats across borders, sold work in vetted shows, and keep (somewhat) disciplined in my home studio.

I have a soft spot for witty quotes—collecting them, illustrating them, and occasionally laughing out loud at them while everyone else in the room wonders what’s so funny. My bookshelves are stacked with quote collections, because I believe wisdom reads better when it comes with a punchline.

As for my artistic DNA, it’s a glorious mash-up. I steal like an artist (thank you, Austin Kleon), wander through the imaginative play of Lynda Barry, and keep company with inspirations ranging from Marc Chagall to Banksy to a host of Outsider artists. Add Fred Babb’s joyful chaos, a riot of mixed-media supplies, and hours of playful exploration, and my art becomes what it loves to be: colorful, curious, and unafraid to mix things up.
